Mohamed Omar wants to ensure local entrepreneurs and business owners have the support and opportunities they need to succeed.KEY PRIORITIES: • Promote local investment and community-centered development • Increase awareness of grants and small business resources • Improve communication between business owners and city leadership • Support community events that highlight local businesses • Advocate for economic growth that includes Ward 5 businesses • Encourage partnerships between local organizations and entrepreneurs

Local businesses are essential to a strong and connected community. I support initiatives that help small businesses grow, encourage local investment, and create opportunities for entrepreneurs throughout Grove City and Ward 5.

As conversations surrounding potential data center development continue throughout Central Ohio, residents across Grove City have increasingly begun voicing concerns about what projects of this scale could mean for the future of their community.While no formal proposal has been presented to Grove City Council at this time, community discussions surrounding data centers have continued growing as residents seek more information regarding potential environmental impacts, infrastructure strain, traffic concerns, utility usage, and long-term community planning.During recent public discussions and community conversations, residents have raised questions about how large-scale industrial developments could impact Grove City’s identity, residential neighborhoods, quality of life, and future growth. Many residents have also expressed concerns surrounding water usage, energy demand, roadway impacts, and whether current zoning and planning processes are fully equipped to evaluate projects of this scale.Grove City Councilmember Mohamed Omar has continued emphasizing the importance of transparency, resident engagement, and proactive planning as these conversations continue.“I think residents deserve clear communication and honest conversations whenever projects with potentially significant impacts are being discussed,” Mohamed said. “People want to understand how developments of this scale could affect their neighborhoods, infrastructure, environment, and overall quality of life.”Mohamed has also stressed that residents should remain part of the conversation from the very beginning of any potential development discussions rather than feeling informed after decisions have already progressed.Throughout recent conversations, Mohamed has encouraged additional public dialogue focused on understanding both the opportunities and concerns associated with data center development. Residents Speak Out as Data Center Concerns Grow Across Grove City

Mohamed Omar recently hosted the first-ever Community Conversation in Grove City, bringing together residents from across the community for an evening focused on open dialogue, neighborhood concerns, and the future of Ward 5.The event was created to provide residents with a space to openly share concerns, ask questions, and discuss issues directly impacting their daily lives. Topics discussed included neighborhood revitalization, infrastructure improvements, public safety, community engagement, economic development, and the importance of ensuring residents have a stronger voice in local government decisions.Residents spoke about the need for increased transparency, improved communication between leadership and the community, investment in overlooked neighborhoods, and the importance of making sure all residents feel represented as Grove City continues to grow and evolve.Mohamed emphasized that one of his goals as a councilmember is to create more opportunities for direct engagement outside of formal council meetings and to make local government feel more accessible and approachable for residents.“Too often, residents feel disconnected from local government or unsure if their concerns are truly being heard,” Mohamed said during the discussion. “Community Conversations are about changing that and creating a space where people can speak openly, ask questions, and be part of shaping the future of our city.”The event also included discussions surrounding development, preserving community identity, and ensuring future growth remains balanced and thoughtful.
